Shop Owner Insight: Vintage Vault, Middleborough, MA
Vintage Vault in Middleborough, MA, is one of those shops where the inventory reveals itself the longer you browse.
Rather than focusing on a single hobby, the store leans into variety—mixing sports cards, Pokémon, memorabilia, and a wide range of non-card collectibles under one roof.
I spoke with owner Chris Langdon about what collectors can expect when they walk in, common misconceptions about card shops, and how the hobby has shifted in recent years.

Shop Owner Q&A
What should collectors expect when they walk into your shop?
When you walk into our shop, you’ll see it filled floor to ceiling with collectibles. We carry vintage and modern sports cards, autographed baseballs and photos, programs, and memorabilia, along with Pokémon cards, comics, advertising items, automobilia, records, Disney collectibles, Loungefly bags, and more. Most people end up spending more time browsing than they expect.
What type of collector is your shop best suited for?
Our shop works well for collectors who enjoy variety. We offer antique, vintage, and modern items across multiple categories, appealing to collectors of all ages and interests rather than a single niche.
What’s one thing collectors often misunderstand about card shops?
A common misunderstanding is that we always have access to every product. There are many restrictions in the industry that limit what’s available. That said, we work hard to source inventory wherever possible to offer as many options as possible.
How has the hobby changed the most since you opened your shop?
The most significant change we’ve seen is the age of collectors. More teens and younger adults are actively collecting now, which has positively shifted the hobby’s energy.

What advice would you give someone visiting a local card shop for the first time?
If you don’t see what you’re looking for, ask. We often have items that can’t be displayed on the sales floor, or we can help track something down for you.
Final Takeaway
Vintage Vault is the kind of shop that rewards curiosity. If you enjoy browsing across different categories — or collecting more than one type of item — it’s worth taking your time when you visit and asking questions along the way.
